Monastic rituals
Monastic life is orderly and highly ritualized. In addition to the rituals surrounding ordination itself, monks are expected to recite the monastic rules (vinaya) twice monthly. In traditions such as Zen, there are further rituals for "dharma transmission," passing teachings from teacher to student.
